Apprentices focus on goals in 3-month segments. They meet with the Storycatchers team to define personal goals on a weekly basis.
Members write personal stories, as well as learn how to frame and tell a story to engage and involve the audience in a discussion. They develop the ability to transform written narratives into scenes and songs, which they perform on tour.
Apprentices train to be positive role models and mentors in the community. In addition to developing singing, acting, and dancing skills, apprentices acquire general stage management, problem solving, life, and job skills as they relate to theatre.
Pay starts at $11/hour with opportunities for advancement and increased pay.
Must be 17-24 years old.
Must have have been recently released from an Illinois detention or correctional facility, be on probation, or in a diversion (alternative to incarceration) program.
Must be willing to work and train in an intensive theatre training program.
